USI successfully completes second High Altitude Balloon flight as part of HALO 2

Engineering students at the University of Southern Indiana successfully completed their second High Altitude Balloon flight as part of HALO 2.

Launch was from the Mt. Vernon, Illinois Municipal Airport with the balloon taking a due east track and burst happening at 88,000 feet.

Landing occurred north of Owensville, Indiana in Gibson County at approximately 11:48 a.m. CDT. Both the recovery and launch teams caught sight of the payloads descending on the parachute, with the launch team making first contact with the pods on the ground.

The HALO 2 GPS provided continuous tracking from launch to landing.

Still photos will follow shortly.
