The Trimble Lassen iQ worked wonderfully. I've got a really nice plot of altitude vs. time with data sent from the GPS to the microcomputer (and logged on an SD card).

Yep! We've done this in the past as well. Be sure to check the list of compatible cameras! We sent a Canon up last spring using CHDK. If only it hadn't plummeted 4000 feet to its death...

Howard,   I've done some limited research on GPS, and from what I've read, there are difficulties with GPS at > 60,000 ft. Do you have a particular system in mind? I realize it's possible (our StratoSAT and APRS both do it!)…
